Wow, I didn't mean to take such a long break! My husband was gone last week and that throws everything out of wack! He's back and I resumed sewing... yea!

Have you seen the Pinwheel quilt along? It ran into some delays but block one is now up and here are my first two blocks.

I am working with a layer cake of Hello Betty Retro Layer Cake by Chloe's Closet. I am adding some additional solids as well since the prints are all pretty busy and I want come contrast in the blocks. The Layer Cake came with red (orange), teal and brown bella solids. I am replacing the brown with grey because I like it better ordered more of the red and teal.
This is week one of 8 for blocks, two of each for a total of 16. first weeks tutorial was great so I think this is going to be a fun project! You can click below to check it out!

  1. Hi Diane, your blocks look great! Congratulations for already being finished with the first assignment! I haven't started mine yet. I'm running into a problem in that my Verna layer cake doesn't have 2 alike, so from reading the forum it seems that I'll either have to find 2 blocks alike in my layer cake to have enough or just make a scrappy pinwheel. I'm undecided what to do now...I didn't have in mind scrappy. But I also didn't have in mind buying another layer cake! We'll see what happens.

  2. Hi! Hopping over from Randi's QAL. I'm tempted to do the pinwheel one!

  3. Your blocks look great. I'm still on the fence if I should make one too...I really don't need another project. But since I did contribute 2 blocks for Rachel's quilt for our Bee Inspired Quilting Bee I really feel I should participate! Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

  4. I have not seen the pinwheel quilt along. Looks fun but I am going to have to pass at this time. To much going on right now. Love your blocks. The colors remind me of the exchange I did last year of red and aqua blocks. I really want to put them together this year.
